Hold on tight there’s plenty more coming…

Have just arrived back in Gladstone, the land of internet and mobile phone reception again after spending five days exploring Heron and Wilson Islands (the other half of my job). I enjoyed the stunning Great Barrier Reef up close and personal with three dives and a number of snorkel sessions!

I’ve spent the afternoon with the owner and developers of a major new tourism venture on the Queensland coast called Turtle Street Beach Resort – what a major vision and the life long mission of one man. Another big social engagement this evening with key figures from the local tourism industry and media in attendance, with another impromptu speech needing to be pulled out of the bag by yours truly – they do get easier you know!

Tomorrow I’m back in the offices of Tourism Queensland in Brisbane where I’ll be hosting a question and answer session on @Queensland called ‘Ben on Q’ between 5.30pm and 6.30pm Brisbane time (8:30am – 9:30am GMT). Get some original questions ready relating to anything about the Islands of the Barrier Reef and remember to use the hashtag #bestjob.

As soon as I have the chance to upload the photos and videos shot over the last few days I will post them on the blog.

Back with you very soon,

Ben

    Ben,

Our family began following the best job competition several months ago and then began following your blog. Long story short, we booked a Sunsail/Mooring yacht and spent the last 10 days cruising the Whitsundays. We looked out for you, but unfortunately our paths never crossed. We did see your buggy parked in front of the deli. We had never been to Australia and we had a marvelous trip. Our kids are ages 15,13,11, & 9 and they enjoyed everything as well. So, if anyone is wondering if the marketing efforts are paying off let them know a family from Kansas, USA are the newest fans of Australia and the Islands. All the best, safe travels, and many blessings on your journeys.

Its superb to hear that you had a great experience here in the Whitsundays, I loved the sailing adventure and can’t wait to get involved during the Hamilton Island Race week in a few weekends time. Keep in touch with the blog and I’ll try and tempt you back! Ben
